Oh, Nellie!

Oh, Nellie! begins in obscurity, searching for the absent mother in her story. Lines of inquiry are drawn in the dark: class and capitalism, church and charity, the criminalisation of poverty and penalties on women’s bodies. Bringing to light the forgotten, institutionalised women of biblico-capitalist society, the film seeks to inspire the new woman with the inherited magic of the grandmother subject.
